THE BOYS AND GIRLS IN BLUE
On my way to the Academy, it all became so clear
My father’s words of wisdom still ringing in my ear
He said follow your heart, you’ll know what to do
Soon you’ll be a boy in blue
As he passed his shield on down to me
I met my best friend Jack the first year on the job
Ready to fight the good fight we worked and played real hard
I said I’ll watch your back and you watch mine
We’ll do our best and do our time
And maybe we can save a life or two.
Let’s raise our glass for those that have past
Raise ‘em for the finest that we knew
Danny Boy’s been played and the pipes all put away
Lets hear it for the boys and girls in blue
It was on that fateful day that clear September morn
We got the call and made our way on through
The fire raged--the sky turned gray
Jack never made it home that day
He always knew just what he had to do
Let’s raise our glass for those that have past
Raise ‘em for the finest that we knew
Going home's been played and the pipes all put away
So lets hear it for the boys and girls in blue
The years go by and life moves on--His son is on the job
Using the words once given to me - I pass them on along
I said follow your heart, now your in his shoes
He always knew just what to do
Today you will become a boy in blue
So let’s raise our glass for those that have past
Raise ‘em for the finest that we knew
Danny Boy’s been played and the pipes all put away
So lets hear it for the boys and girls in blue
As we remember those who have past,
we dedicate the song to our everyday police heroes.
We salute those special men and women,
Who step foward, raising their right hand,
as a shield is placed upon their chest.
Day in, and day out, around the clock,
they fight the good fight.
They share in a fraternity based on :
bravery and humanity
loyalty and integrity
there is a tradition of proud service
and dedication to the powerful oath
they promised to keep.
May the Good Lord bless and protect them all.
Quelques informations tirée du posteur Archemo à propos de cette chanson :
"Images of the NYPD are shown in the video. This started simply as a local project. A new video, including police departments nation wide is in the works. This beautiful song is written by Joe O'Brien and Tom O'Callaghan and performed by the Moonshiners, and is also a wonderful tribute to police officers everywhere."
